Today’s OPENING ACT is an anniversary of sorts, marking Kayo’s return to his roots. We feature the Nike AirMax 720s, which was the same sneaker he used for his first-ever unboxing. And it’s a sneaker that held up well after extensive wear: “I’d wear it a couple of days every week, and I have a lot of shoes, so that says a lot.”
This new pair is a Crimson Tint and Volt colorway, which is basically like off-black and workwear yellow. And the colors are a good choice, considering the buckets of rain we’re dealing with this week. “They’re really easy to pair, you can pick pants or wear them with shorts,” Kayo says. “They have summer colors but you can also wear them during the rainy season because they’re still pretty black, and that’s gonna hide a lot of the dirt.”
“It’s kind of a new dad shoe,” he jokes.
The shoe body material has a shiny, ’90s vibe and a hidden lacing system with half-tone, gradient colors. The combined mid- and out-soles are the highest air unit that Nike makes. Resembling something like a hovercraft, you can clearly see how cushiony they are as he bounces around in them. While they’re super comfortable for a long period of time, the high-cushioned heels made be a bit awkward if you’re not used to them.
